Final stage talks are going on between the Tata Air Bus Consortium team and the Gujarat government to provide plants to manufacture aircraft planes in Gujarat. Thus, it is a matter of pride for Gujarat that a Make in India aircraft is manufactured in Gujarat.
Tata Air Bus Consortium has finalized the exercise of setting up a plant for manufacturing the aircraft at a suitable and convenient location in Gujarat and has almost decided to set up the Tata Company plants.
Gujarat Government has offered land allocation to Tata Air Bus Control for providing plants in Special Investment Dholera. Tata Air Bus Consortium is also meeting other locations to set up a plant in Gujarat Tata Air Bus Company has been awarded the contract to manufacture the c95 transport aircraft.
According to sources, Ahmedabad is eyeing up space for plants near developed airports like Surat and Rajkot. However, since the Gujarat government is developing an international airport at Dholera, Tata has offered to allot land at Dholera. The greenfield airport at Dholera is likely to be operational by 2024. An international airport has been developed in the sector land and the state government has earmarked about 75 hectares of land for commercial development.
An official of the Industries Department said that the Tata company is definitely staffing the aircraft manufacturing plant in Gujarat. Discussions are underway regarding the location of the aircraft manufacturing plant and a final decision will be taken soon. An announcement about Tata’s aircraft manufacturing plant is likely to be made before that.
Dholera is an important location in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor and earlier there was active consideration for setting up an aircraft assembly facility at Dholera. According to sources, Tata Advance Systems Limited in partnership with Airbus has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defence to manufacture the C295 military aircraft at its doorstep. 22,000 crore contract has been signed.
Dholera Airport will have two runways of length 4000 meters and 2910 meters. This facility at Dholera airport will be essential and useful for flight testing of Tata Air Bus aircraft. This facility will also be the first entry of an indigenous aircraft manufacturing company into the defence sector in India, especially a public enterprise company. It will be the first company in the country’s defence sector with the aircraft to be manufactured.
